WGP Management Team

The WGP Group Management Team has successfully over the past 20 years delivered a thriving organisation that is enriched by working with the rigorous demands of the industry to produce first class leadership.

John Duncan: Chairman

After 12 years' service as a marine engineer in the Marine Branch of the RAF, John joined the industry in 1979 and worked for Horizon Exploration before founding WGP in 1994. He supervised design, building and outfitting of both deep and shallow water seismic survey and oceanographic survey vessels. He has also bid for and managed seismic surveys in Europe, the Middle East, Russia, USA, Cuba, Australia and the Far East. Currently Chairman of the Board of the WGP Group of companies.

Marcus Smith: Operations Manager

Marcus is also one of the longest running members of the Team, having joined WGP in 1999 managing and supporting operations around the globe from Somalia to Greenland, Burundi to Russia (and most places in-between). Focused on delivering project and client objectives on-time, on-budget, whilst ensuring compliance with stringent QHSSE requirements.

Terry Hibben: Engineering Manager

Terry has been with WGP for 8 years, having previously spent 15 years with Horizon Exploration and 4 years with AG Geophysical Products in the USA. Prior to which, Terry completed a 4 year civilian marine engineering apprenticeship attached to the Royal Navy.

Paul Thornton: Group Accountant

Joining WGP in 2008 to augment and take over the helm of the Finance Department, Paul has over 20 years accounting experience, qualifying with AAT in 1993 and ACCA in 1999 going on to achieve Fellow status with both Accounting bodies.

 

Mark Burnett: Chief Executive Officer

Mark joined WGP in 1997 as the Operations Support Manager, promoted to Operations Director in 2003 and appointed as the Chief Executive Officer in 2009. With previous offshore experience gained with Western Geophysical and Ex Officer of the Royal Navy, Mark also holds a BSc (Hons) in Maritime Studies from Liverpool John Moores University.

James Pryor: Sales & Business Development Executive

“With over 13 years E&P experience and a background in land and marine borehole seismic acquisition, wireline operations and geoscience, predominantly gained with Baker Hughes,  James joined WGP in 2010 to locate new business opportunities and cultivate client relationships on a global level. James holds a BSc (Hons) from the University of Plymouth, is a member of the EAGE and PESGB, and maintains a keen interest in Petroleum Geoscience.”

Claire Jennings : Director & Company Secretary

Claire has been with the company from the very beginning keeping a watchful eye on company finances through rigorous financial management. Following her rise to Chief Financial Officer, in 2008 with the birth of her first daughter, Claire is both Company Secretary and Director.

Jon Follows: Marine Project Engineer

A professional Marine Engineer, having completed 24 years in the Royal and Merchant Navies, which culminated as the senior engineer leading a small team of personnel within a Specialist Military Boat organisation operating high performance craft. Jon now provides the attention to detail and enthusiastic project management to WGP.
