2009-11-18 SEG Houston 2009
Despite what has undoubtedly been a quieter year for seismic exploration activity industry-wide, the impressive attendance of 9,300 industry professionals and 360 exhibitors from around the world at the 79th SEG Annual Meeting and International Exposition in Houston, Texas, perhaps indicates that the state of the market is not as bleak as some suggest. In comparison to attendance at the 2007 and 2008 SEG shows, 2009 was up by almost 1,000. With new technologies, services and techniques in the field of marine seismic exploration becoming available to enable faster, safer and increased exploration and hydrocarbon retrieval, SEG 2009 was clearly considered an invaluable showcase.
Being a 15 year old company WGP has exhibited at SEG annual shows many times and was proud to send a team over from the UK to continue the important business of answering inquiries from national and independent oil companies as to our proven turn-key solutions. It was also an ideal opportunity to hold face to face meetings with existing and potential clients and suppliers as well as to make new friends and renew old dialogues. WGP exhibited next to the likes of PGS, WesternGeco, Fugro, CCGVeritas, ION, Polarcus and OYO Geospace and our eye-catching stand was rarely without interested visitors. The wealth of seismic information present within the exhibition halls meant that we all had the opportunity to increase our own portfolio of knowledge as well as inform others about our own industry leading services. SEG 2010 is to be held in Denver and the annual EAGE show in Barcelona. Perhaps we will see you there?
