2010-01-11 CARSP Mobilisation Begins

WGP has commenced mobilisation of the M/V Citadel in preparation for the beginning of Phase II of BP’s Chirag Azeri Reservoir Seismic Project (CARSP). This pioneering Life of Field Seismic (LoFS) survey will continue to provide high density, All-Azimuth, multi-component (4C) OBC data to BP to enable optimum fluid management of one of the world’s largest producing offshore oilfields.

With sea trials scheduled for the latter half of January 2010, WGP has crews working around the clock to install all the equipment that enables the Citadel to perform both the deployment and retrieval of the OBC cable as well as provide the seismic source.

This mobilisation will include a higher specification construction class ROV system along with the necessary Kongsberg HiPAP 500 and SeaPath positioning systems to improve navigation and sensor location accuracy.

At this point in the mobilisation all the lower level foundations and grillage are in place onto which all the main structures have been fixed. The seismic source system modules have been successfully installed and the ROV spread is completed with only 10% of the cable lay system yet to be brought onboard. The next phase of mobilisation will be the running of cable and fluid systems, installation of ladders and railings along with survey and acoustic positioning systems.
